WHITE CROWS review - Crow up
(Reviewed by Melody Werner)
White Crows is a 2016 song from synth musician Meteor's cracking album, Para||el Lives. It is arguably Meteor (or Jorge Reyes) at his finest; melding blissful synth tunes with elements of his experience with rock from before he started using the Meteor moniker in 2015. I would even go so far as to say it is a perfect track and one that is one of my favorites, period.
While the 2018 album named after it would go on to expand on its general vibe and atmosphere, White Crows is perhaps the pinnacle of relaxing synth that you can kick back to. Conventional wisdom may say that 5 minute long songs are sluggish or overlong, but White Crows never lets up; providing consistently rewarding and chill vibe. From the very beginning, it starts off a serene beauty--and yet, it builds from that and never allows itself to become monotonous. And that would be a killer, because monotony is (typically) grating. And I know I'm gushing and have been since the start of this review--but that's pretty much the point of P&F nowadays, at least for me. Plus, in my defense, I dunno how you couldn't gush about a song this damn good.
White Crows (the song) represents a master of their genre at the top of their game. I'd consider it a rite of passage for anyone who sees themself as a synth enthusiast. And something worth trying if you're even theoretically interested in this style of music. If it wasn't obvious enough from the jump, White Crows gets a 5/5.
Fantastic
Summary:
Listen to it, you puker.
